Customer Reviews: top geezer! worked with the guy in tenerfie late 80's early 90's if u did 2, get in touch. would love to hear from craig, who apparantly lives in the same town as me! Excellent A great about the football troubles in the mid to late 80s. This book tell you about the Aberdeen fans home and away and the "Beer, Birds and Violance" they thrive on. When no match is in Scotland, through postponment or just a break its down to England to meet up with other "Casuals" A must for ALL football fans! an accurate account of life as a casual jay allen tells it exactly as it is in this engrossing account of organised violence. One point that he stresses is that it is never the intention of a casual to seriously harm a fellow hoolifan but more to try and stick one on as many of the opposition as possible rather than focus on one person. A minor grumble is that he says that no innocent individual ever gets hurt. This is simply not true, as an x member of the villa youth i remember when the chelsea headhunters claimed to have taken the holte end, this is rubbish they made sure they were surrounded by scarfers and shirters rather than casuals and by the time that the villa youth got to em they were running!!!! jay also takes this biased stance although having never been to a game north of the border i cannot dispute whether or not the ASC were the top boys - but this is a totally engrossing read and cannot be recommended strongly enough.
